STARFLEET Marine Corps 3rd Brigade invites one and all to an educational experience aboard The Last Dreadnought – USS Texas. The battleship Texas is the sole remaining US Battleship of the Dreadnought era, and the only surviving battleship that fought in both World Wars. Berthed at LaPorte, Texas the Battleship now serves as a museum at the historic San Jacinto Battleground.

On Saturday, 29 September we will board the Texas for an overnight experience. We will be taken on a tour of the vessel that includes areas of the ship not normally accessible to the public.

The cost for the event is $35 per person for the overnight tour ($18 for tour only, not sleeping aboard the ship), the proceeds go to the maintenance and upkeep of the Battleship herself. Lot's of photo opportunities, so Unit/Chapter t-shirts and the like encouraged. Just remember that you are crawling about in a battleship, and clothes could encounter 'heavy wear'.

We will be staging an inspection prior to boarding. Ship’s tour includes climbing numerous ship’s ladders & steep stairs. Overnighters will sleep in crew quarters (segregated by sex) in conditions representative of wartime shipboard life (so bring a pillow/blanket/sleeping bag if you need/want it).  All participants are encouraged to bring flashlights, cameras, canteens (or similar water sources) snacks, and comfortable clothes and shoes.

Planned activities include: Tabletop gaming, Sunday morning gun crew competition, camaraderie & epic fun (plus some other surprises)

Be in place at the park by 1700 (5PM) with your gear, ready to form up.

We will board at 1800 (6PM) sharp.

Field Exercise FAQ

-Weaponry is forbidden on site.
-Brigade Class A, B, or D uniforms (Unit/Brigade labeled t-shirts) is requested but not required (but don’t you want to look good in the group pictures?).
-Lace up shoes or boots are required.
-Posting of Brigade Colors are scheduled for Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Feel free to reach out and volunteer for Honor Guard Duty.
-Cots will be provided, bedding will not - bring a pillow and sleeping bag if you desire one.
-Proceeds go directly to upkeep & maintenance of the Battleship Texas.
-One meal is provided - Breakfast for those staying overnight. Breakfast selections are in the registration.
-Every member MUST fill out a Form 3-4, and BRING IT WITH YOU to the event. These will be collected during the inspection before we board. If you do not have this, you cannot board!
-We need a minimum of 15, and there is an 80 person maximum for this event.

If you have special needs, (power for CPAP machine, etc.) please advise staff early and we can accomodate.
